Your new tattoo has been done by a trained professional under the cleanest possible conditions. It is now up to you to keep it clean to prevent infection. Just follow a few simple steps:
- Keep your bandage on at least 2-4 hours.
- Wash your hands and then:
- Remove your bandage
- Wash your tattoo with soapy water
- Pat it dry with a towel
- With your clean hands:
- Apply a thin coat of lotion (Lubriderm, Curel, Etc.)
- Wipe off any extra lotion
- Note: Avoid petroleum based products (Do not use Neosporin, A&D Ointment, Etc.)
- With your clean hands:
- Wash & apply lotion twice a day.
- Note: The scabs will begin to flake off your tattoo in several days.
- Do not pick, bump, scrape, or rub your scabs.
- Keep your tattoo out of sun and do not soak tattoo in water.
- Tattoos should heal in about ten days but may take longer depending on the individual.
